Odoo Agency: ERP implementation, integration and operations

ODOO ERP ROLLOUT AND INTEGRATION

Odoo

Odoo is a modular ERP: sales, inventory, purchasing, accounting and manufacturing in one system. We implement it, connect it to Shopware and your other systems and run it for you if you like.

What is Odoo?

Odoo is ERP software from the Belgian vendor Odoo S.A. It is made up of individual apps, such as sales, CRM, inventory, purchasing, accounting, manufacturing and website, that run on one shared database. You start with the areas you need and add more later.

Odoo comes in two editions. The Community Edition is licensed under the LGPLv3, free of licence fees and self-hosted. The Enterprise Edition has its own licence, requires a per-user subscription and adds apps such as Odoo Studio, the full accounting scope and the vendor's upgrade service.

A new major version of Odoo comes out roughly once a year, and the vendor supports the last three. Moving to a new version is a data migration you should plan for. We often automate the processes around Odoo with n8n and build the shop on Shopware.

The Odoo ecosystem

Odoo itself is only one part. What carries a project are the modules around it and the integrations with other systems. As of October 2026.

  • Vendor apps

Sales, CRM, inventory, purchasing, accounting, manufacturing, projects, website and e-commerce share one database. You don't have to sync data between programs.

    Community and Enterprise

  • Odoo Community Association

The non-profit OCA maintains many free modules on GitHub, for example for inventory, reporting and localisations. We check maintenance status and version before we use a module.

    Community

  • Odoo Apps Store

Free and paid modules from third parties. Each module targets a specific major version, so we check compatibility before you buy.

    Third party

  • External API

Through the external API, another system can read and write every record. Which variant we use depends on your Odoo version.

For shop, PIM, DMS and n8n

  • German localisation

Odoo ships with the German SKR03 and SKR04 charts of accounts. What you need for tax advisor exports and e-invoicing, we clarify per version and edition.

What we deliver with Odoo

Available as individual services or as a project. If another ERP fits you better, we tell you up front.

  • Consulting and selection

We map your processes and clarify whether Odoo fits, whether Community is enough or you need Enterprise, and which apps you really need.

  • Rollout in stages

Setting up apps, creating master data, assigning roles and rights, training key users. Area by area rather than everything on one cut-over date.

  • Modules and customisation

Custom modules in Python instead of changes to the core. That keeps updates and version upgrades possible.

  • Connecting Shopware and Odoo

Products, stock, prices, customers and orders flow between shop and ERP, with logging, retries and alerts on errors.

  • Data migration

Moving data from the legacy ERP, inventory system or Excel: field mapping, test runs and a reconciliation before cut-over.

  • Hosting and operations

Odoo on your own infrastructure in the EU as an alternative to Odoo.sh, with backups, updates and monitoring.

How an Odoo project works

How long a rollout takes depends mainly on the number of areas, integrations and legacy data. We give you a range after the process review.

  1. Process review

We look at how quotes, orders, inventory, purchasing and accounting run today and which systems are involved.

  2. Fit-gap against the standard

We check what Odoo covers out of the box and where modules or customisation are needed. That gives us the stages and the quote.

  3. Rollout and integrations

We set up Odoo on a test environment, import sample data and connect the shop and other systems. You test with real cases.

  4. Go-live and operations

After the final data reconciliation, Odoo goes live. After that we take care of updates, backups and monitoring if you like.

Pros and cons of Odoo

Pros

  • One system for sales, inventory, purchasing, accounting and manufacturing instead of several isolated tools.
  • The Community Edition is open source under the LGPLv3 and free of licence fees.
  • Large ecosystem of vendor apps, OCA modules and third-party modules.
  • An external API makes integrations with shop, PIM, DMS and automation possible.

Cons

  • Key features such as the full accounting scope and Odoo Studio are Enterprise-only, with a per-user subscription.
  • New major versions come out every year, and each upgrade is a data migration.
  • The more the core is customised, the more expensive later upgrades become.
  • The quality of third-party modules varies, so they have to be checked before use.

Is Odoo right for you?

A good fit if …

  • you want to replace inventory software, CRM and spreadsheets with one system.
  • you run a Shopware shop and want stock, prices and orders properly synced with the ERP.
  • your processes largely match the standard and you would rather adapt processes than software.
  • you want to roll out step by step, area by area.

Probably not if …

  • there is established industry software for your sector that covers your core processes better.
  • you want to rebuild Odoo so heavily that it barely matches the standard any more.
  • nobody in the company has time to clarify processes and support the rollout.
  • an existing ERP works well and only the shop integration is missing.

Odoo hosting: run on your terms

Instead of Odoo Online or Odoo.sh, you can run Odoo on your own infrastructure, as Community or Enterprise Edition. We set up the instance and take care of operations.

  • Hosting in the EU, your data stays yours
  • Regular, automated backups with restore tests
  • Prompt security updates, version upgrades tested on a copy first
  • Monitoring of availability, resources and certificates

Frequently asked questions about Odoo

Your question isn't here?

Ask directly
What does an Odoo rollout cost?
That depends on the number of areas, users, integrations and legacy data. The Community Edition has no licence fees; with the Enterprise Edition you also pay the vendor a per-user subscription. Our project calculator gives you a first range for the project effort, and it becomes binding with a quote after the process review.
Odoo Community or Enterprise?
The Community Edition is enough if you mainly need sales, CRM, inventory and purchasing and run Odoo yourself. The Enterprise Edition pays off if you want the full accounting scope, Odoo Studio, the vendor's hosting or its upgrade service. We compare the two with you against your processes, not the feature list.
How do I connect Odoo with Shopware?
Through Odoo's external API and Shopware's Admin API. Depending on scope, we use a ready-made connector, a custom integration or n8n as middleware. What matters are clear responsibilities: which system leads on products, prices and stock, and what happens when a sync fails.
Self-host Odoo or use Odoo Online and Odoo.sh?
Odoo Online and Odoo.sh are run by the vendor and both require the Enterprise Edition. Odoo Online does not allow custom modules, Odoo.sh does. On your own infrastructure you decide on location, edition and modules yourself, but you have to take care of backups, updates and monitoring. We can do that for you.
Odoo or SAP for mid-sized companies?
SAP Business One fits if you already work in an SAP environment, for example because a parent company uses SAP. Odoo fits if you want many areas in one system, flexible customisation and an open-source base. We make the decision with you based on your processes, integrations and costs over several years.
How long does an Odoo rollout take?
That depends on scope: a single area such as CRM goes live faster than inventory, purchasing and accounting together with a shop integration. We plan in stages so that the first areas go live early. We give you a reliable range after the process review.
Can we migrate data from our old ERP?
Yes. We map master data such as products, customers and suppliers to the fields in Odoo, clean up duplicates and test the import in trial runs. Open items and stock levels are migrated on the cut-over date. You decide how much history comes along; an archive of the old system is often enough.

Your edge with Odoo

There are plenty of Odoo partners. We connect the ERP with everything around it: the shop, automation and custom software.

  1. Shopware and Odoo from one team, without an interface between two vendors

  2. Automated processes with n8n, for documents, notifications and syncs

  3. Custom development when the standard is not enough

  4. One dedicated contact in Mönchengladbach and Düsseldorf
