How the Project Calculator works

The calculator uses fixed rules, no AI and no randomness: the same answers always give the same result.

Base effort

Every project starts with a base effort – for a shop by project type, for an app by starting point, for software by type of application.

Drivers per answer

Each further answer adds effort. For shops, as in the Shopware Price Calculator, surcharges apply to particularly demanding combinations. We show you up to three of the biggest items as effort drivers; the base effort is not one of them.

Cost and duration

We convert the effort into euros with a day-rate range, and into weeks with a team velocity that grows with the scope: larger projects get a larger team. Amounts are rounded to €500 so they read as a range. All amounts are net.

How accurate is the estimate?
It is a first guide based on your answers. The range is deliberately wide, because details such as exact requirements, data quality or approval paths only become clear in conversation. We prepare a binding quote after the initial call.
Where do the figures come from?
For shops, the calculator uses the model of our Shopware Price Calculator. For apps and software, we use fixed effort values per answer. All three share the same day-rate range and the same team velocity, which grows with the effort. The values are guide values from our effort model, not your individual case.
What is not included?
VAT, because all amounts are net. Also licences, hosting and running costs for operations and maintenance. Apps add store fees; AI features add the API or token costs of the models used.
How is the duration calculated?
From the estimated effort and a team velocity that grows with the scope: we count the first 40 person-days at 4 person-days per week, the next 80 at 8 and everything above at 12, because larger projects get a larger team. The weeks show pure build time; alignment, approvals and waiting times add calendar time. It often pays to start with a focused first version.
Which platforms does the app estimate cover?
The calculator assumes one app for iOS and Android from a shared codebase – the way we build apps with React Native.
I'm planning a Shopware shop – which calculator fits?
Both show you the euro range right on the page. The Project Calculator is the quick start with a few questions. The Shopware Price Calculator also asks about edition, further modules and support, and shows which combinations drive the effort. If you already know these points, it is the more precise choice.
What happens to my answers?
The calculation runs directly in your browser; your answers are not sent to our server. Only if you have the result emailed to you do we store your email address and answers to send you the result and handle your request.
