Supabase Agency

SUPABASETHE POSTGRESBACKEND

Supabase is an open-source backend platform on PostgreSQL: database, authentication, realtime, storage and automatic APIs from one source.

We build withSupabase

Supabase turns PostgreSQL into a full backend platform. We use it to get apps into production quickly and without boilerplate.

  • PostgreSQL with auto-generated APIs
  • Auth, Row Level Security and policies
  • Realtime updates and storage
  • Edge Functions for custom logic

PostgreSQL as the foundation

Supabase relies on real PostgreSQL rather than a proprietary database. Existing SQL knowledge and tooling stay usable.

APIs without building your own

REST and realtime APIs emerge straight from the schema, greatly shortening the path from data model to a working app.

Auth and security built in

Authentication and Row Level Security are integrated. Access rights are enforced at the database level instead of scattered through app code.

Open source and portable

As an open-source stack, Supabase runs managed or self-hosted – a safeguard against vendor lock-in.

Frequently asked questions about Supabase

When is Supabase the right fit for our project?
Supabase makes sense when you need a complete backend fast, without building database, auth, storage and APIs separately. Because there is a real PostgreSQL underneath, it is especially strong when your data is relational and you want long-term SQL power and open standards instead of vendor lock-in. For apps, MVPs and web products on Next.js or native frontends, it brings speed from day one.
How do you actually approach building a Supabase backend?
We start with the data model in PostgreSQL and derive the auto-generated APIs from it, instead of hand-writing CRUD code. In parallel we define the auth flows and Row Level Security policies so access rules are enforced right inside the database. Custom logic goes into Edge Functions, and files run through Supabase Storage.
How do you integrate Supabase into our existing frontend?
We connect Supabase through its official client libraries, typically to Next.js or native apps. Auth, data access and realtime updates run directly against the generated APIs, secured by Row Level Security. Where server-side logic or third-party systems are needed, we add Edge Functions or a dedicated API layer in between.
We're coming from Firebase. Is switching to Supabase worth it?
Supabase is an open alternative to Firebase, but it builds on PostgreSQL instead of a NoSQL database. The switch pays off mainly when your data is relational, you need complex queries or you want to avoid vendor lock-in, since Supabase is open source and can also be self-hosted. For a migration we move the data model, auth users and permission logic step by step, and we are upfront about the differences between the two models.
What drives the cost of Supabase and what should we watch in operations?
Cost is driven mainly by database size, storage, realtime connections and Edge Function calls, not by a fixed licence fee. In operations the most important task is keeping Row Level Security policies clean, because that is where security and data access are decided. We set up monitoring and backups, and if you need full control over your data and infrastructure, we can self-host Supabase as well.
